Does size matter ?

I think it does but I dont believe there is a wrong size or right size. What I mean is that smaller is better for relationship building, higher percentage involvement and accountability but God is not contained by our limited view of life. God can use bigger.

From Jesus example I can see that He spent time with the twelve and some others, like Mary, Martha, Lazarus etc. but He took three of them to places the others were not directly invited by Him. (John, Peter and James eg. see Mark 9:2) I've read a number of books and blogs and spoken to various people about the size of the church. (the local context - the gathering of two or more)

The challenging article I did read was by Wayne Jacobsen on "Why House Church is not the answer." This was during my paradigm shift of what is church and it challenged me to again turn to Jesus, and not just expect a new format or way of thinking to be the answer I sought. After typing this - I think Jesus matters more.....

Hi Chris, Joel here... size.hmm i like ur style... i've wrestled with this whole concept since dad has shifted his own paradigm... i guess at the end of the day my question is not about size but about impact... following closely the last few months, i can see both the strengths and weaknesses of both house church and institutional church... it is quite fresh to me and over the past few years i've been part of one of the most healthiest local churches (Life Church Auckland), i find myself questioning the lack of local impact on the central coast.. in the bible, Paul gets a new revelation not long after his conversion to reach out to the gentiles.. the apostle's/disciples agree that Pauls new passion is accepted as long as he remembers the poor n needy...
One thing i question amongst this fresh change with so many of my close friends is the impact in the local community. It is one thing to change paradigm however looking at scripture, the more important thing is that people are finding Jesus or finding help through Christians... again, it is more about helping the poor n needy, the widow n the orphan...
I am more passionate now than before, to see the church (you n me) to help those who cannot help themselves... it is here that we are known by our fruit.... no matter what happens whether church (institution) or house church...the bible says that we are known by our fruit...
This brings me to a new point... since all new revelations from various people...what has been the fruit shown...is there an increase in people finding salvation or has it been a channel to bring across ones point of view..
I have no comment on what style is more effective.. again, as per ur final remarks.. how did Jesus live and what do the scriptures say...

The central coast does not need a new style...it needs help...especially the single mums, pensioners and university students..

Love you like a fat kid loves a cupcake..
